SPECIAL RESOLUTION FOR 2022 SEMI-ANNUAL MEETING

“A Special Resolution for the consideration of the Members of the Association, at the Semi-Annual Meeting to be held in Regina, Saskatchewan on April 8, 2022”

BYLAW AMENDMENT:

WHEREAS: Currently the Baseball Sask bylaw reads that the Umpire Committee shall be composed of the following:

  • Umpire Supervisor chairperson to be appointed each year by the Board of Governors
  • 8 Zone Umpire Directors to be named by the Umpire Supervisor by November 1 each year
  • 1 Management Committee member (at the discretion of the President)

Appendix C Page 25.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: Proposal for an official change in the bylaws to the following:

  • Provincial Supervisor – chairperson to be appointed each year by the Board of Governors
  • Past Supervisor
  • Assistant Provincial Supervisor – To be approved by the Baseball Sask Board of Governors
  • Up to three (3) members-at-large – To be Named by the Umpire Supervisor by November 1 each year and must be approved by the Baseball Sask Board of Governors
  • Eight (8) Zone Directors – To be Named by the Umpire Supervisor by November 1 each year
  • 1 Management Committee member (at the discretion of the President)

Rationale:

A few years ago, the Umpire Executive Committee expanded to include people responsible for portfolios to help offset work.  An example is the education/clinic lead.  This lead looks at organizing all the umpire clinics and builds to learning modules/handbooks for the upcoming season.  Over the years, the committee size has grown to the proposed structure, and thus are just trying to make sure that we are functioning within the agreed upon structure.
