ONLINE NCCP COACHING CLINICS

Home |

These past year has been truly surreal and something that many of us have never experienced before. With that in mind, Baseball Sask is continuing to offer our members programming to enhance their baseball knowledge as well as allow them the ability to receive NCCP certification.

With social distancing & isolation in mind, Baseball Sask has been working hard at adapting programming to service members, and Coach Training is no exception. Still wanting to meet the needs of associations & their coaches, we have found a way to offer the same NCCP training. Rather than in person clinics during this time, the same training will be facilitated ONLINE again in 2021.

Participation takes place in a live, Zoom online classroom setting using a home computer or laptop. There will be  a maximum of 20 coaches per four-hour session who can break into discussion rooms of 3-5 coaches. Online clinics hosted by Baseball Sask are open to all coaches throughout Saskatchewan and the cost $30 for Initiation and $50 for all other clinics. Final instructions will be sent to registered coaches leading up to the online event.

Clinics are first come first serve & close at 20 coaches, so, register today.

NEWS & NOTES FOR 2021 SEASON

What a crazy past 12 months that we have had trying to navigate our day-to-day activities amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. Fortunately, in 2020, we were eventually able to play the great game that we love.  We are all crossing our fingers that we are able to do the same in 2021. Last year proved that we can all do what it takes, and we will be ready to do so again.

We are planning to have a season in 2021, we just don’t fully understand what that will look like yet.

Once we receive further details from the Government of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Health Authority, we will be sure to keep our membership updated in this document.

For the time being, please see detailed below what is and is not currently allowed based on the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan.

2021 RETURN TO TRAINING & PLAY PROTOCOLS – FEB 25, 2021

Once we are given the go ahead to start playing games again, we hope to see you all come back to participate in our great game.

We feel our programs have much room for growth, especially in our Female and Challenger Programs.

PBR is officially coming to Saskatchewan.

On April 20 and 21, Prep Baseball Report Canada will host the Saskatchewan Open ID at the Gordie Howe Sports
Complex in Saskatoon, the inaugural event in the province.

Although it will take some time to fully launch, our goal of providing year-round coverage of high school players in the province with unmatched boots on the ground coverage is what we aim to do.

The Saskatchewan Open ID, in conjunction with PBR Canada, will be coordinated by Greg Brons.

Brons, the current High Performance Director for Baseball Saskatchewan, has been involved with grassroots and HP baseball in the province since 2000. In that role he’s the head coach for Team Saskatchewan, oversees the development of players in the province and utilizes coaches from around the province to tunnel towards the same goal

“Saskatchewan is looking forward to hosting PBR for the first time,” said Brons, adding, “and giving our players the opportunity to showcase their skills at the best indoor facility in Canada, if not North America.”

Now, with construction complete on the Gordie Howe Complex, PBR will have the opportunity to host indoor and outdoor events in the province year-round.

“We hope to provide a pathway to college, Team Canada, or maybe someday professional baseball,” Brons said.

The year-round usage of the facility will provide more opportunities for players in Saskatchewan who have aspirations of playing baseball at the collegiate or professional level. It will also create a central location for PBR in the Prairies.

With the addition of events in Saskatchewan, PBR Canada has closed the gap on expanding our reach from coast to coast, bringing players an unrivalled opportunity to showcase their talent North of the border.

“We take great pride in being able to give Canadian players a platform and be a voice for them as they strive to reach their dreams and goals in baseball,” said Chris Kemlo, PBR Canada Director of Scouting. “By partnering up with Baseball Saskatchewan, the Gordie Howe Complex and Greg Brons, we’re excited to get an up close and personal look at the players in the province of Saskatchewan.

“We know there are talented players and we want to make sure the rest of the baseball world knows that as well. It’s all about showing that Canadians can play ball.”

The Saskatchewan Open ID will be open to players in Gr. 8 to Gr. 12, and is open to anyone in Sask and bordering provinces.

As we expand, be sure to stay locked in on all our social media platforms across the country, and bookmark prepbaseballreport.com/canada for all your information on future events, in-depth analysis and scouting reports of players in Canada.

Yours in Baseball,

PBR Canada Staff
