Baseball Sask is currently looking to find interested communities to host some of our Provincial Championships.

It is preferred that a host has 2 available diamonds as we try to make 8-Team Championships.

We provide grants to all hosts to help offset expenses so this should be a revenue generating event for your local baseball club.

The Mosquito Provincial Championships are still population based Championships.

However, as we did last year, we will once again be ranking teams in Pee Wee, Bantam, Midget, Junior and Senior. The Division Supervisors will be ranking teams entered in Provincials based on tournament results and league games. Therefore, it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that teams forward ALL tournament game results to the Division Supervisor as those games tend to be more win-based than league games which are more development-based.

We are able to award Host Sites for the AAA Championships immediately, however, we cannot do that for AA Tier 1, AA Tier 2, AA Tier 3, AA Tier 4 or AA Tier 5. The reason for this is because we will not be ranking teams until June.

Communities can still bid on a championship immediately though which we would prefer, and we can let you know you will be hosting a championship, however, what category it will be is to be determined.

For more information, please contact Mike Ramage or see below to fill out a Bid to Host:

NOTE:

In Pee Wee, Regina and Tisdale have been awarded Championships TBD

In Bantam, Regina has been awarded a Championship TBD

Similar to what we did in 13U Pee Wee last year to form a Selects team to represent Baseball Sask at Nationals, we will be doing the same thing in 2017 for 15U Bantam and 21U Junior.

Baseball Sask will be hosting the 2017 Bantam Selects ID Weekend from June 9-11 in a location to be determined. The format for the weekend will be determined soon and posted.

We will use this to help evaluate players to be selected to the 15U Bantam Selects Team that we will be sending to the 2017 15U Baseball Canada National Championship in Summerside, PEI from August 24-28.

As for the 21U Junior ID Camps we will have these posted as soon as they have been scheduled. The 21U Selects Team will represent Baseball Sask at the 2017 21U Baseball Canada Championship in Gatineau, QC / Ottawa, ON from August 17-21.

The Coaching Staff for these teams will be announced soon so please stay tuned.

We are pleased to announce that Rocky Nickel (Moose Jaw) has been selected the winner of the 2016 Male Official Award by Sask Sport.

Nickel has been actively involved as an official in Saskatchewan since 1992. He has served close to 30 years on the provincial umpire executive committee, including two terms as provincial supervisor from 1995 to 2001 and from 2008 to 2016. He was also assistant supervisor from 2001 to 2007. He helped develop the Western Major Baseball League (WMBL) Umpire Association and served on numerous committees. Nickel has received the highest recommendation possible at each national championship he has worked, and he has been assigned to two international events (2002 World Youth Championships and 2005 World Qualifier). He has taught and evaluated thousands of umpires and been an exceptional mentor to umpires at all levels.

Congratulations Rocky and thank you for your years of service to Baseball Sask!
