Baseball Canada is pleased to announced and bring to coaches of all skill levels a series of Instructional Videos to help with various aspects of the game. Beginning February 25 and running through May 9, this is a great tool for anyone to take advantage of.

Featuring former Major League catcher Joe Siddall, these videos are meant to help coaches with practices and teaching points for their summer or winter programming, or for baseball players to watch and learn on their own.

  • Member of Baseball Canada Cup National Championships Silver medal winning team. Recorded a save in order for Team Saskatchewan to have a perfect 5-0 record in pool play. Pitched a complete game in the semi-final 4-3 win over Team Ontario to advance Team Sask to the gold medal game.
  • Named the Most Valuable Player of the Toronto Blue Jays – Tournament 12 event and was selected by Toronto Blue Jays scouting to represent Team Prairies. The team won the tournament, and Perkins was the winning pitcher in games against Team Atlantic and Team Ontario.
  • Invited to play with Team Canada at a fall competition in Florida and pitched two scoreless innings against the Atlanta Braves’ Fall Instructional team.

 

Larry Orth has been a volunteer on the community, provincial and national levels for 25 years. He served as President of Baseball Sask from 2008-10. During this time, he served on the Baseball Canada and Western Canada Baseball Association Board of Governors, and was a member of the Canadian Strategic Planning Committee. From 1993 to 2000, he was the Umpire Director for Zone 5, overseeing all umpires in one of the largest member zones. Orth has also spent considerable time volunteering to help young umpires develop through the Saskatoon Umpire Mentoring Program.

We are currently looking to fill our coaching staff for the upcoming 2016 Baseball Canada Cup to be held in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

The following are the requirements for the coaches:

  • available from July 28 to August 8
  • scout league games (May to July)
  • scout May Midget Selects ID Tournament in Saskatoon
  • Comp-Dev Trained in the NCCP System
