NATIONAL COACHING CERTIFICATION PROGRAM (NCCP)

The Baseball Canada NCCP is designed to provide valuable and accessible resources and training to coaches who are working with children in Community Sport and Introduction to Competition level baseball programs.

INITIATION COACH CLINICS

1) Coach Initiation in Sport Online Module – an online resource to help get you started and a place to revisit often while you coach baseball. *Must be completed as a pre-requisite before registering for other clinics.

2) Coach Initiation in Baseball (Rally Cap) Online Module an online resource made specifically for coaches in the Rally Cap division to introduce the Rally Cap program and format. *Coach Initiation in Baseball (Rally Cap) is not required for coaching certification for Provincials.

3) Coach Initiation in Baseball (Fundamentals) Online Module – an online resource for skills, drills, and many other activities to introduce the basic fundamentals of baseball. *Must be completed as a pre-requisite before registering for other clinics.

4) Initiation Coach Clinic – an in-class and field/gym clinic that you can attend only after completing the required Initiation online modules. The clinic covers the fundamentals of the game and Making Ethical Decisions training.

Your Baseball Canada NCCP status will be Trained Initiation Coach once all of the Initiation Coach clinics are completed.

REGIONAL COACH CLINICS

5) Teaching and Learning Clinic – an in-class clinic that you can attend only after completing the required Initiation online modules. The clinic covers organization, explanations, demonstrations, supervision and feedbacks.

6) Absolutes Clinic – an in-class and field/gym clinic that you can attend only after completing the required Initiation online modules. The clinic covers the minimum standards for skill development that coaches must teach players at the age group in which they are playing and mental training.

7) Planning Clinic – an in-class clinic that you can attend only after completing the required Initiation online modules. The clinic covers the structure of a practice and the design of a simple season plan.

Your Baseball Canada NCCP status will be Trained Regional Coach once you have completed the Initiation Coach Clinics and Regional Coach Clinics.

REGIONAL COACH EVALUATIONS

8) Making Ethical Decisions Online Evaluation: Competition Introduction – an online evaluation that you can complete only after attending the Initiation Coach Clinics and Regional Coach Clinics. This evaluation is completed in “the Locker” on the Coaches Association website (https://thelocker.coach.ca/account/login).

9) Regional and Provincial Coach Portfolio – an online evaluation that you can complete only after attending the Initiation Coach Clinics and Regional Coach Clinics. The portfolio requires coaches to submit an emergency action plan, season plan, practice plan, and analyze fundamental baseball skills in a video analysis section.

10) Practice Evaluation – an on-field evaluation done by a Baseball Sask Evaluator that you can complete only after attending the Initiation Coach Clinics, Regional Coach Clinics, and passing the Regional and Provincial Coach Portfolio.

Your Baseball Canada NCCP status will be Certified Regional Coach once you have completed the Initiation Coach Clinics, Regional Coach Clinics, and Regional Coach Evaluations.

PROVINCIAL COACH CLINICS

11) Pitching & Catching Clinic – an in-class and field/gym clinic that you can attend only after completing the required Initiation online modules. The clinic covers basic pitching mechanics as well as fundamentals for catchers.

12) Strategies Clinic – an in-class clinic that you can attend only after completing the required Initiation online modules. The clinic covers signals, line-up, basic positioning, steal, hit and run and other tactical aspects.

Your Baseball Canada NCCP status will be Trained Provincial Coach once you have completed the Initiation Coach Clinics, Regional Coach Clinics, and Provincial Coach Clinics.

PROVINCIAL COACH EVALUATIONS

13) Game Evaluation – an on-field evaluation done by a Baseball Sask Evaluator that you can complete only after attending the Initiation Coach Clinics, Regional Coach Clinics, Provincial Coach clinics, and passing the Regional Coach Evaluations.

Your Baseball Canada NCCP status will be Certified Provincial Coach once you have completed the Initiation Coach Clinics, Regional Coach Clinics, Regional Coach Evaluations, Provincial Coach Clinics, and Provincial Coach Evaluations.
